Khamisi Norwood graduated from Vancouver Film School in 1993. He then moved to New York and started working as a lighting technician. Within a year, Khamisi’s expertise grew and he was called upon to be the Chief Lighting Technician (Gaffer), on a number of low budget features. Amazing new technology, such as the 4k RED ONE, HD and the latest advances in film, make it imperative to stay knowledgeable with these industry innovations. Khamisi has made it a priority to stay well versed in all of these formats.

Khamisi has the ability to illuminate the director’s vision. He has a keen sense of light and uses it to contribute to the storytelling. Khamisi has an artist’s eye and the gift of being a dynamic photographer who understands the nature of filmmaking from artistry to chemistry.

“My passions are in visual storytelling, whether it’s a narrative, commercial, music video or documentary.

My goal is to find ways to bring a project to completion at, or below, budget and still maintain artistic integrity.  While film will always be number one for me, there are other technologies that function well artistically, but are more economical.  One way to do that is by shooting with some of the very exciting digital formats available today.

I started shooting on film in the late 90’s and was one of the first DP’s in my circles to embrace digital formats. Because of this history I strive to give my digital work, especially narrative projects, a ‘film-like’ aesthetic. Rich, lush, and striking photography!”
